Camerata Impromptu, Chamber Choir of L’Orfeò de Sants are pleased to offer you its 2012 Choir Conducting Course. It is open to beginners as well as to experienced conductors who wish to widen their knowledge.
A distinctive characteristic of this course is the fact that it gives the students the chance to practice with an established, well balanced choir that knows the repertoire, thus facilitating them to experiment, take risks and learn within a real set-up.
Besides the real work with the choir, this course will deal with other subjects that are basic in a good conductor’s training: voice technique for the choir, auditive awareness, rehearsing pedagogy, analysis of the works and phenomenological analysis.
This 5th edition of our course includes the seminar “Our voice and our body” by Begonya Torres, Human Anatomy professor at UB University’s Medicine Faculty, Speach Pathologist and singer.
The course will finish with a public concert in which the students will conduct the choir performing the works they have worked during the course.
Students as from 16 years old are accepted, with or without previous choir conducting experience. The professor will adapt his teaching to each student according to his/her knowledge of the matters, so as to make the course as profitable as possible for each one of the participants. The selected repertorire contains works in different levels of difficulty, therefore it can be adjusted to the students needs and to changing pedagogyc requirements.
A good level of music reading is needed for a good development of the work. The students should work previously on the pieces, which will be furnished in advance.
We do believe that this course will increase your knowledge and your conducting abilities while enjoying a pleasant working atmosphere.
